Music
Ever heard of progressive rock? No? Well, then it's about time!
This style developed in the mid 60's, as a countermovement to mainstream and is characterized by unconventional structures and instrumentations. You want to know more: Babyblue Reviews (theory-section included!).
The most prominent representatives may be
- Genesis (before 1984!)
- Yes
- King Crimson
- Dream Theatre
- Flower Kings
just to name some. At the links you can find my favourite artists. On their homepages are sound-samples so take a look...
Beside only listening I'm trying my luck as a drummer in a progrock-band (Scythe). Here you can find samples, photos and news as well.
Some excerpts:
- "Scythe" arose from the band "Powds Con Fusion" in 1997, from which singer and guitarist Thomas Thielen, keyboarder Udo Gerhards und myself remained
- Bassist Ingo Rhoden joined in 1998
- 1998: self-production of a demo-CD ("Each Other")
- 1999: Gig at the "Progparade #1" at Bonn (including live-recording)
- 2000: Recording of "Divorced Land", which is mixed at the moment
Appearance of the DURP-sampler #3, on which "Scythe" is represented
Concerning drumming I'm heavily addicted to the play of Bill Bruford and Terry Bozzio (take a look at the links again).
