Theoretical High Energy Physics
Hans-Peter Nilles
We work on topical questions in theoretical high enery physics:
phyics of the standard model of the strong, weak and electromagnetic
interactions and its supersymmetric extension. The question on the
unification of the fundamental interactions plays a cental role. This
leads to the investigation of GUTs (grand unified theories)
and of superstring theories.
Theoretical aspects of superstring theories, the dualities of the
underlying M theory are studied in order to find a quantum mechanically
description of gravity. These investigations show up possible
consequences for the understanding of elementary particle physics at
high energies as well as for astrophysics and the cosmology of the early
universe.
